The Ancient of Days by William Blake - 1000 Piece Jigsaw Puzzle
The Ancient of Days is a 1,000-piece jigsaw puzzle featuring William Blake’s image of Urizen, his embodiment of conventional reason. The figure crouches before clouds, extending a hand to hold a compass over the dark void below.
ABOUT THE ARTWORK
The Ancient of Days appeared as the frontispiece to Blake’s illuminated book Europe A Prophecy, first published in 1794. The image references the Book of Proverbs: “When he set a compass upon the face of the earth.” Widely considered one of Blake’s best and most influential works, it was described as “a singular favorite with Blake and as one it was always a happiness to him to copy.”
