Edward Gorey's Dracula: A Toy Theatre

Edward Gorey’s Dracula: A Toy Theatre reproduces in miniature Gorey’s set and costume designs for the award-winning Broadway production of Dracula, which ran for nearly a thousand performances. While Bram Stoker’s 1897 novel moves between the Carpathian Mountains, London, and rural England, this stage adaptation places the action in Dr. Seward’s sanatorium near Purley in the English countryside.

Three pop-up rooms feature Gorey’s crosshatched scenery, with costumed characters and stage furniture: a tomb, a bed, two rugs, and a couch. The pieces can be assembled with a little tape to stage a vampire story.
