Legend says that any person who cut down the mighty African Iroko tree would be cursed with misfortune so debilitating that it would be passed on for generations of their family, and that houses made from the wood of the Iroko tree would be overtaken by the enraged wail of the tree’s spirit, crying out for revenge.
