This image comes from The Swan, Hilma af Klint's 1914–1915 series within the Paintings for the Temple that explores duality and the union of opposites. A black swan and a white swan meet in perfect mirrored symmetry.

Swedish artist Hilma af Klint (1862–1944) was painting radical abstraction years before Kandinsky or Mondrian, guided by her interest in spiritualism and the unseen world. She kept most of her work private and asked that it not be shown until at least 20 years after her death. Today she is recognized as one of the pioneers of abstract art.
