ABOUT TONY

Tony was born in the bayous of Louisiana, where the water is warm, the nights are loud, and everyone minds their own business — mostly. His mother always said he came into the world with a smile already on his face, which, given that he is an alligator, made the other animals a little nervous at first.

He is charming, unhurried, and surprisingly good company. He loves jazz, slow mornings, and floating in the sun with his eyes just above the waterline. He has a talent for appearing asleep when he is actually paying very close attention. People underestimate him often. He doesn't mind.

Despite his reputation, Tony has never once frightened a child. Quite the opposite — children have always been drawn to him. Perhaps because he listens without interrupting, or perhaps because he always knows where the best snacks are hidden.
