Demeter - Violet

Violet contains ionone — an aroma chemical that does something unusual: it temporarily desensitizes the nose to itself, causing the scent to seem to disappear and then reappear. Napoleon's Josephine reportedly wore violet deliberately for this reason, using the effect to make herself more alluring.
