Green Shiso (Aojiso) Extra Virgin Olive Oil
This refreshing and aromatic oil is made with only four ingredients—green shiso (perilla leaves, commonly known as Japanese basil), extra virgin olive oil, salt, and garlic. The formula blending these ingredients highlights the beautiful aroma and flavor of shiso sourced in Toyohashi City, Aichi Prefecture. The city is Japan's number one shiso producer and is also the home of Yamasa Chikuwa. The company specializes in producing chikuwa (a type of fishcake), and they developed this oil specifically to pair with it. The locally grown shiso leaves are carefully harvested using a special technique that avoids damaging the aromatic components on the back of the leaves.
