Art of Spirited Away by Hayao Miyazaki

The Art of Spirited Away collects color illustrations from Hayao Miyazaki’s animated film Spirited Away (Sen to Chihiro no Kamikakushi) in an English-language edition.

This large-format hardcover features paintings and designs from the film, commentary, color stills, sketches, storyboards, illustrations used to develop its fantasy world, and a complete English-language script. 

Miyazaki also directed Kiki’s Delivery Service and Princess Mononoke.

ABOUT THE AUTHOR

Hayao Miyazaki is a Japanese animation director. In 2005, he received the Venice International Film Festival’s Golden Lion Award for Lifetime Achievement, and Studio Ghibli received the festival’s Osella Award for overall achievement in 2004. His film Spirited Away won the 2002 Academy Award® for Best Animated Feature Film. His other films include Castle in the Sky, My Neighbor Totoro, Kiki’s Delivery Service, Princess Mononoke, Howl’s Moving Castle, and Ponyo, all of which have received acclaim in the U.S. Miyazaki’s work also includes the manga series Nausicaä of the Valley of the Wind and Starting Point: 1979–1996, a collection of essays, interviews, and memoirs about his early career and theories of animation. Both are published in English by VIZ Media.
